Wish you were here!

Big Bend National Park

July 2024

This trip to Big Bend National Park with my family played a key role in shaping my interest in photography. The wide desert sky, natural light, and quiet moments in nature encouraged me to slow down and observe my surroundings more intentionally. Because the trip was a vacation, I drew inspiration from classic travel postcards and incorporated that nostalgic, destination-focused style into the final edits of my photos, capturing both the vast scale and subtle details of the landscape.

I decided to name the project “Wish You Were Here!” in reference to the phrase commonly written on postcards. The title reflects the travel theme and nostalgic tone of the images. To further emphasize that idea, I edited two of the photos to resemble old, dusty postcards you might find sitting on the shelf of a travel center, giving them a slightly aged and weathered appearance that reinforces the feeling of memory and travel.
